Victoria Wu et Josef Stauber rejoignent Bordier & Cie pour développer le marché APAC

The managing partners of Bordier & Cie SCmA are pleased to announce the appointments of Victoria Wu as Swiss head of Asia. With Josef Stauber they will develop the APAC market from Zurich.

Victoria Wu, a veteran banker, is fluent in Mandarin, English, German and French. She worked in corporate banking for 14 years, chiefly as head of an origination team for trade finance and structured finance at ING. In 2008, she joined Credit Suisse’s APAC team, where she has been a top performer and a pillar in driving APAC business growth over the past 12 years. In 2016 she was promoted to Managing Director – one of the very few relationship managers to reach this level of seniority, reflecting her key contribution to developing this business at Credit Suisse. Victoria Wu joined Bordier & Cie SCmA in early September.

Josef Stauber started his private banking career with Credit Suisse ten years ago, also serving the APAC market. He has been a key revenue contributor for the Swiss-based APAC team over the last five years and most recently held the position of director. Josef Stauber also joined Bordier & Cie SCmA in September. Having lived in China for many years and being fluent in Mandarin, English and French, he is well positioned to serve his mostly Chinese clientele in their native language.

Patrice Lagnaux, limited partner at Bordier & Cie and head of the Zurich office, said: “We believe that Victoria’s unique experience, high standing and reputation will help us expand our APAC coverage, which is an unexploited avenue of growth for many banks in Switzerland. Victoria is probably the most-respected private banker in Switzerland for the Asian market. That market – and especially China – is and will increasingly be important for us and for Switzerland as a whole, given its role as a major private banking hub. However, there are still few people in our country with specific expertise in the Asian market – which makes us even prouder to have Victoria and her longstanding colleague Josef Stauber join our firm. They bring an array of skills, extensive experience and an in-depth understanding of the APAC region. Bordier & Cie SCmA has been serving Switzerland as an exclusive private bank for more than 175 years; we want to continue attracting clients of the highest calibre – which means we need to have the best specialists on our team. Our solid balance sheet makes us one of the safest banks in Switzerland, and we’re also the largest private bank with unlimited partner liability, so we have no doubt that our new Asian team has the right platform to succeed.”

Victoria Wu, the newly appointed Swiss head of Asia, said: “I was looking for a pure Swiss private bank that reflects Switzerland’s genuine value and its long-standing culture of client-oriented wealth management. The process is like looking for an exquisite timepiece rather than just a simple watch: Bordier & Cie stood out in my research. The firm is very well managed; its long history is a sign of stability; and its high Tier 1 ratio reflects its diligence in risk management. To me, it’s the best home for Asian clients who are searching for these values. I’m delighted about this opportunity to join Bordier, and I’m looking forward to working together to build a home base for Asian clients in Switzerland.”
