Evening in Brest: Insights into Opening Capital to Private Equity

Business presentation in a dimly lit conference room.

On Thursday, December 12, the teams from Bordier & Cie (France) and the private equity fund UI Investissement co-hosted an evening event in Brest focused on a timely topic: the opportunities available to business leaders when opening their capital to private equity investors.

In a context where valuation multiples are contracting and leverage is on the decline, funds are placing greater emphasis on operational support to help leadership teams generate growth. The discussions provided valuable insight—not only for entrepreneurs exploring new avenues, but also for investors seeking a deeper understanding of the performance drivers of unlisted assets dedicated to business financing.

The evening concluded with powerful testimonials from two mid-cap company leaders, clients of Bordier & Cie (France), who spoke with passion about their own experiences. They highlighted both the advantages and the key considerations to keep in mind when making the decision to open up capital.

Exclusive tour of the Rungis Market

Market, people in protective gear, meat processing plant.

On Friday, November 15, 2024, Bordier & Cie France had the pleasure of organising a private guided tour of the Rungis International Market—the largest wholesale food market in the world. Spanning 234 hectares (the size of Paris’s first five arrondissements), Rungis is home to over 1,200 companies and generates more than €10 billion in annual revenue.

At 3:00 a.m., fifteen Bordier & Cie France clients, accompanied by three team members, gathered for an immersive tour through the market’s vibrant halls. From seafood to poultry, meat, offal, flowers, and fresh produce, the visit offered a behind-the-scenes look at this extraordinary ecosystem.

The experience concluded with a foie gras tasting hosted by Maison Mas at the Rungis wine cellar, followed by a traditional Rungissois breakfast. It was a convivial and unforgettable experience an authentic exploration of the “belly” of Paris that left a lasting impression on all who attended.
