Bordier and Moonfare brings partnership to Asia – Bordier & Cie Singapore first private bank in Asia to sign agreement with leading private equity fintech Moonfare

1 June 2022

Boutique private bank Bordier & Cie Singapore has partnered with private equity fintech company Moonfare to provide its clients access to top-tier private equity funds via the latter’s digital platform. The extended partnership is on the back of a joint announcement made in December last year.

The latest effort reinforces Bordier’s strategic focus on expanding its ambit of services in private market investing; industry veteran Christian Skaanild was named managing partner in 2020 after a career of over 20 years in private equity. This unique partnership provides Bordier clients’ access to Moonfare’s portfolio of top performing funds, broadening the private bank’s existing offering of leading private equity and venture capital funds – some of which were previously only available for institutions.

Commenting on the initiative, managing partner and CEO of Bordier & Cie (Singapore) Evrard Bordier said, “The partnership aligns with our overall strategy of ramping up the bank’s alternative investment offering. The rising investor class in Asia continues to have a strong appetite for private market opportunities and we strive to grow our capabilities alongside the ever-sophisticated needs of our clients. We look forward to driving more conversation and interest towards high quality, innovative technology in private banking.”

In addition to Moonfare’s partnership with Bordier, the platform has drawn a great deal of interest from other distributors in the region since the expansion into Singapore; ranging from family offices, digital platforms and wealth managers, exemplifying the growing trend of financial institutions looking to increase their allocation to private markets.

The private equity asset class has seen tremendous growth in recent years and with assets under management of over $4 trillion today is no longer a niche asset class reserved only for institutional investors. The platform boasts the industry’s first digital secondary market, enabling investors to sell their stakes and creating a path to liquidity for a traditionally illiquid asset class. The fintech firm raised $125mil in Series C funding led by Insight Partners last year. More recently, Vitruvian Partners joined Moonfare as shareholder and partner.

“Our partnership with Bordier & Cie serves as a huge vote of confidence in Moonfare’s mission to transform the traditional landscape of wealth management,” said Kit Toh, head of partnerships Asia. “The immense demand for private equity as a key strategic allocation within a client’s portfolio is accelerating, and I am excited to see Moonfare at the epicenter of this shift with our unique value proposition.”
