Busy first half of the year with two client events in Argentina and Uruguay

Client event Buenos Aires, Argentina (12.06.24)

Based on the initiative of Nicolas Nimo, a senior advisor from the Montevideo Office, Bordier & Cie was able to sign a sponsorship agreement with Sebastian Baez, a top ranked Argentinian professional tennis player. Benefitting from Sebastian’s short visit to Argentina between his European tournaments at Roland Garros in Paris and Wimbledon, we were able to host a client event in Buenos Aires in June.

The success of the event clearly depended on the coordination of several elements: securing a date on the busy agenda of Sebastian, finding a suitable place, defining the right format and of course, inviting clients and prospects. All this needed to be done in three to five days. Once the date got confirmed we found a perfect spot in “La Mansion” at the Four Seasons Hotel in Buenos Aires. Based on a great team effort between the Uruguayan and the Swiss teams we were able to confirm 50 participants, both clients and prospects.

It was a fantastic opportunity to get to know a rising star in professional tennis, with a remarkable personal history, ask questions and get some selfies and autographs. It was also a great occasion to spend quality time with clients and prospects. Their feedback was extremely positive and encourages us to continue looking for new opportunities like this that provide a platform to strengthen our relationship with existing clients and attract new ones.

Client event Punta del Este, Uruguay (17.01.24)

The first client event of the year was in February when we hosted Raphael Domjan in Punta del Este to give an update on the SolarStratos project. For this occasion, we decided to invite a select group of clients and prospects, who happened to all be private plane owners and experienced pilots.

Their connection and shared passion with Raphael and SolarStratos was obvious and participants were delighted to hear about the project and Raphael’s many adventures.

Both events generated a significant number of new business opportunities, new relationships and soon new clients, as well as a deepening of relationships with existing clients.

Uruguay and Argentina are very interconnected countries, culturally and socially in such a way that we complement but also compete with each other (especially in football!). But our team in Montevideo is not just about Argentina and Uruguay, we have strong relationships in Paraguay with an experienced and successful team, while also covering Brazil and Chile. The current Uruguayan government has in recent years established a legal framework providing attractive tax benefits for those moving their residence to Uruguay. Consequently, there has been a significant increase in the number of wealthy families from Latin America and Europe moving their residence to Uruguay. They benefit from a safe country with a high quality of life and a regionally important financial center. We expect many of these families to become our clients in the future.
