Evening in Brest: Insights into Opening Capital to Private Equity

Business presentation in a dimly lit conference room.

On March 28th, a unique event took place at the offices of Bordier & Cie (France), an event aimed at the next generation—the children and grandchildren of our clients.

About fifteen young people aged between 16 and 23 attended this presentation themed “Discovering Financial Markets: An Introduction for the Young Generation.” After an introduction to Bordier & Cie, Christophe Burtin, Head of the Paris office, gave the floor to three young bankers and analysts from Bordier France. They introduced the young generation to the professions of financial investment, the role of financial markets in a capitalist economy, and the different asset classes, including the famous cryptocurrencies. The presentation ended with a small quiz to make the experience enjoyable, followed by a Q&A session.

Bordier France’s clients greatly appreciated the initiative of this unusual event, which, for once, was not directly aimed at the clients themselves but at the young generation.

Exclusive tour of the Rungis Market

Market, people in protective gear, meat processing plant.

On Friday, November 15, 2024, Bordier & Cie France had the pleasure of organising a private guided tour of the Rungis International Market—the largest wholesale food market in the world. Spanning 234 hectares (the size of Paris’s first five arrondissements) Rungis is home to over 1,200 companies and generates more than €10 billion annual revenue.

At 3:00 a.m., fifteen Bordier & Cie France clients, accompanied by three team members, gathered for an immersive tour through the market’s vibrant halls. From seafood to poultry, meat, offal, flowers, and fresh produce, the visit offered a behind-the-scenes look at this extraordinary ecosystem.

The experience concluded with a foie gras tasting hosted by Maison Mas at the Rungis wine cellar, followed by a traditional Rungissois breakfast. It was a convivial and unforgettable experience—an authentic exploration of the “belly” of Paris that left a lasting impression on all who attended.
