Discovery of Financial Markets for the Next Gen

On March 28th, a unique event took place at the offices of Bordier & Cie (France), an event aimed at the next generation—the children and grandchildren of our clients.

About fifteen young people aged between 16 and 23 attended this presentation themed « Discovering Financial Markets: An Introduction for the Young Generation. » After an introduction to Bordier & Cie, Christophe Burtin, Head of the Paris office, gave the floor to three young bankers and analysts from Bordier France. They introduced the young generation to the professions of financial investment, the role of financial markets in a capitalist economy, and the different asset classes, including the famous cryptocurrencies. The presentation ended with a small quiz to make the experience enjoyable, followed by a Q&A session.

Bordier France’s clients greatly appreciated the initiative of this unusual event, which, for once, was not directly aimed at the clients themselves but at the young generation.

Acquisition Meeting Team

The 2024 Acquisition Meeting Team was organized this year by Bordier France. 45 bankers and private managers from all entities of the Group gathered in Paris on March 21 and 22.

Several topics were discussed during the first day, including synergies with M&A boutiques (companies specializing in mergers and acquisitions) with a presentation by the CEO of Capitalmind. Jean Louis Duvernay, CEO of NewCo Corporate Finance, illustrated the strong trend of consolidation within the ecosystem of independent financial advisors (IFAs) and family offices, which is giving rise to large groups capable of competing with private banks. Finally, all participants also discussed possible partnerships with these entities that delegate management mandates to us, a historical development strategy of Bordier UK that Bordier France has been implementing for 3 years and which now represents 15% of their AUM (Assets Under Management). The day ended with a very pleasant dinner in a typical Parisian bistro.

The next day, the Acquisition Meeting Team began with a well-received presentation by David Baverez, a French essayist living in Hong Kong, who spoke about the War Economy, emphasizing the importance of mastering production tools and raw materials in current times. According to him, ESG now stands for Energy, Security, and War.

Finally, the last two hours were devoted to free discussions on the onboarding processes for new clients, productivity gains, potential synergies within the group, and new communication initiatives (including this new Group Newsletter 😊).
